I’ve got to find another “shooter” preferably one who can dive as well as it’s my hope to bring back underwater footage heretofore unseen. I’d spent the past six summers working and diving with Greg Deascentis on a project here in Newport. Greg’s a commercial diver who is also a very accomplished photographer. We’re going to meet for coffee next week.

I broached the subject to C & D over lunch and their decision was made by dessert. They have to work out their salary requirements and job expectations. As I expressed to them, I need some capable hands to run Bagan while I film and edit. I have to see just how this will fit into the production budget but as I told them, am very confident and extremely pleased that it will happen. With the pre-mentioned funding in place it was an easy deal to close and for my needs, no amount of money could find better people to help run the boat while I ran the production ends of things.
I have the boat, I’ve built a basic track record for my documentary production and I have the backing. I have crew for the boat. That was the easy part.

Yesterday I started the list for potential crew. After putting down the first two names I went no further. Over the past 18 months I’d been fortunate enough to have two of the very best crew one can find join me on some good sized runs. Clinton Bolton and Dominique Tanton are not only as professional as they come they are also good friends. We’ve made a date to talk.

Having made this decision I find that my enthusiasm for the project hasn’t been wasted; within past three months I’ve managed to bring aboard several backers who’ll meet my budget. Their main concern, apart from return on their investments, is how I plan to do this trip. Enter “Bagan”, my Nordhavn57. She and I have already been from L.A. to RI without a hitch. If there was ever a boat built for such a passage it is Bagan.
